Clockwork not so orange
A trip over to Glasgow for an RSE meeting. It gave me the opportunity to go on the subway for the first time since they introduced the new trains, which are not quite so claustrophobic and definitely not as orange as the old ones. They are also better insulated so you can actually hear someone talk. Most RSE meetings are hybrid and some are fully online. None of them are in person only. As someone pointed out today, as revealed by the attendance at this meeting, it's an awful lot further from Edinburgh to Glasgow (for most people) than it is from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Actually, I found it fine and the trains were not particularly busy and it was easy to get to the university.
The meeting was in the Adam Smith Business School and the extra is taken from the 6th floor where we had lunch after the meeting. I then borrowed the Head of School's office to do a couple of meetings before heading back to Edinburgh.
I have some stuff to finish tonight but I've stuffed my face on the pizza I bought for yesterday but didn't need to eat. I did 60 minutes of peloton at sparrows this morning before I had breakfast and before I got the train to Glasgow. I'm impressed at my own energy!
It'll still be another fairly early night tonight, after I've finished off the bits and pieces. I'm looking forward to starting a new novel. To the people (several) who asked me what got me reading again, it was this. Mary Lawson is not everyone's cup of tea, but I find her novels like a warm hug. In fact, perhaps she's a bit like the heated chair covers we've bought for Tain which will be brilliant in the summer for keeping us outside in the colder evenings. Only two more sleeps before I find out just how much the garden has moved on in my absence.
