A sign of the times

These are pieces of my grandmother's wedding china from late in the 19th century.

Look at the size of the sugar bowl! This morning when the family including our co-grandparents from London came for coffee/tea, I didn't even think to put sugar out at all.

Family lore has it that when the babies in the large family were baptised at home, this bowl held the water.
