Bounty

I plan to roast carrots and fennel for a pot-luck dinner on Sunday of friends from Solstice Verbiage, Push for Change, and Sustainable Living days.
The blueberries I bought because I had to go to New Seasons to find fennel and they had a buy-one-get-one-free on pints of blueberries.
The strawberries came from Columbia Farms on Sauvie Island where the huge parking lots were filled with cars, and the fields of You-Pick strawberries were filled with, I bet, 200 people, scattered across the rows, bent on picking. But me? Never! I bend over enough in my own garden.  I bought a half-flat of already picked. Now I have to freeze most of them, though, because Eric has to wait at least a week to eat anything with seeds and other hard bits. And no bending over a stove to make jam, either. Besides, Di has already handed over a pint of fresh jam from her own time at the stove. Thank you, Di! And thank you gods of goodness and plenty.
