Meadow Maker

I was delighted to see Yellow Rattle (Rhinanthus minor) growing - and flowering - profusely as I was crossing one of our favourite local nature reserves - Brickfield Meadow - this morning, on my way to collect our car from a routine service at a nearby garage.

What I had never truly appreciated before was the striking appearance of the flowerhead - like a fox's, a cat's, or even a human face...
