Abstract Pattern

I thought I’d blip this for the AT challenge. It’s the side of my favourite planter in the garden.

It’s featured before here a few years ago, but I really love it. We’d been to an NGS open garden and seen several there made by a company called Errington Reay. I bought a couple of them following that visit and as I was looking them up earlier today, realised they are not so far away from where we now live, so a visit may be in order at some point :-)

The pattern is created by the firing process in their kilns which reaches extraordinary high temperatures and results in this super ‘salt glaze finish’. According to their website they are the only pottery of this kind in the world. I must say I’ve never seen such a tactile and crackling effect finish on pottery anywhere else.

Thanks of course to Ingeborg for hosting AT. This has only been slightly cropped and slightly brightened other than that it really does look like this close up!
