Lower Lodge
Today has been long and tiring.
We went to my wife's parent's house to help with the clearance. After her mum died last year, and now her father is safely ensconced in a very good care home, the house has to be sold to pay for his care.
A common story and one I know many of you will be familiar with.
I felt quite sad and a little depressed, there were personal belongings and photographs which were almost too poignant to bear.
However, it is a work in progress and has to be done. A potential buyer is making an offer so we need to get our skates on.
Afterwards we went to visit the old man in his new place and he loves it. They love him, he had a shower today which is more than he has had in many years. Three whole meals a day. He is fed, washed, ferried around, has a bedroom with a countryside view and sleeps soundly at night.
Result!
And the home is in a beautiful country setting where I can walk the dog so Hollie comes with us too.
The blip is a cottage that is on the edge of the park and may well have been to do with the the home when it was a private Manor house.
We feel very lucky with this situation as it was not always safe to assume such a happy outcome.
