Scared in Redcar
As planned we went to Redcar today for a mooch around Morrisons and to get a few top up items. Actually it ended up being more than just a few. It was all because we’d run out of butter…..
On the way I asked Callum to stop the car just as we got to The Esplanade as I could see the tide was out and I’ve been wanting to get a view like this for a while. What you can see in the middle section of the blip is a small part of the ‘Petrified Forest’. I think it’s fascinating to think these rocks - as they appear now - were actually once a forest.
We’re talking a few years ago mind. Like at the end of the last ice age. Sometimes, depending on the conditions, you can actually see tree trunks and in 2013 there was also a shipwreck uncovered by the shifting sands.
When we get the chance we will have a proper walk out on the beach there and see it all close up. For now I just took the picture and dashed back to the car as the rain had started.
It’s still raining, although due to stop soon I believe (6.15pm) so the hounds will get a quick round the block.
