Buttercups
Overcast start to the day but as the morning went on the sky started to clear.
We headed out to Machrihanish for our walk as the threat of rain had diminished.
This little wildflower meadow is at the side of the village hall. Lovely to see all the buttercups and the red clover, which is beginning to flower.
Holding a buttercup under your chin and observing a yellow reflection is a playful tradition to indicate whether someone likes butter. While this is a fun game, the yellow reflection actually has to do with the unique anatomy of the buttercup's petals, not a taste for butter. The petals reflect yellow light due to the way light is reflected off the petal's layers, creating a bright yellow glow
