Memorial Day 2025

It’s our last day on the farm probably until August. And what a beautiful one it has been. My sister and BIL have been busy all day as usual. They are going to paint this table like the one she worked on last month. The chairs will be painted as well. My sister made us delicious salads for lunch. Then they went out to the deck to plant a few more flowers. I cleaned our bathroom, changed and washed our linens, packed our stuff, dusted, etc. Hubby packed as much as he could in the SUV. My heel injury has extended to the right side of my foot so walking has been really painful. I tried to hide it but my sister saw me hobbling and I have been relegated to light duty, aka, sitting on my …. I think if I could have a thorough crying pity party I’d feel better but I am not one to cry. Can’t wait for a diagnosis on Friday! My sister and our BIL actually sat with us for a while after lunch. They are making us something new for dinner. Our niece introduced them to flavored organic chicken sausage. We’ll have them grilled with kale, potatoes and zucchini as sides. Our ring camera has alerted us several times today. It must be windy. Not being home, we weren’t able to lower our flag to half staff this morning. It has been flying proudly in the breeze and attracting attention from Ring. We had no Memorial Day parade up on the ridge but each of us paid private tribute to our fallen soldiers and sailors. Let there be peace on earth! Stay safe folks. Thanks for visiting. “Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” — Unknown
