Campioni! Campioni!
While Ottawacker Jr. and Mrs. Ottawacker busied themselves doing various things, I prepared myself for the weekend’s big event, which was, naturally, the Liverpool game. The final match of the season, and it would be the moment when Liverpool were finally presented with the trophy they seemingly won some time last year. To say it has been anti-climactic is an insult to climaxes. Liverpool have been in endless party mode since we clinched the title, and it has been a chore to watch them play. But one has a duty as a fan, and so I watched today’s game. Such loyalty should not go unnoticed.
The game was reasonably entertaining – and ended in a 1-1 draw against a very good and well disciplined Crystal Palace team. The trophy presentations were fine (for any Evertonians reading, a trophy presentation is what happens when you win something) but I switched off pretty quickly because, well, you know. Other things to do.
We did a fair few chores together, and then Mrs. Ottawacker and I drove Ottawacker Jr. to his goalkeeping practice. She walked home (to get in her steps) while I stayed and chatted with a couple of the coaches, watching the session. The goalkeeping session then turned into his team practice. By 6, it was all over, and we could drive home in the pouring rain. There was a lovely rainbow at the end of it, though.
Showers, left overs for dinner, then watched a Dr. Who to round off the evening.
