First poppy

The poppy that was the subject of my blip a week or so ago (Corn poppy) has now opened. It was a pretty windy day and the poppy is way above my head, so it's not a great photo. The red is so bright.

Did an 8km run first thing. Felt good. We had breakfast and then went to a garden centre to replace the flowers in our plant theatre by the front door. The violas are looking a bit sad and have got very straggly. We replanted the pots with some Bidens in yellow and orange. We've not grown these before but we are hoping that they won't be too thirsty while we are on holiday.
Planted out the remaining sweet peas and morning glories. I also transplanted some cotoneaster seedlings growing in the gaps between the block paving into plant pots in the hope that we might be able to grow them up and then plant them under the dead hedge that was probably as old as the house (1950s). It is now mostly dead after suddenly looking very ill last year. We have suspicions that vine weevils might be to blame but it could just have got to end of its natural life.
Nice to have another day off tomorrow.
