Last Game Of The Season

Another early start as Becky and Mike were running in the Northallerton 10k.  It started at 10am and they left the house at 9.30am to walk to the start line in Northallerton High Street.

Astrid and I watched some TV, played games and played with toys ... and we had our breakfast.  Ive added an Extra of Astrid wearing her Paw Patrol mask.

Becky and Mike returned later with their medals.  Mikes time was 44 mins 19 seconds and Becky took 45 mins 31 seconds.  They were both ahead of the local MP Mr Rishi Sunak whose time was 47 mins 20 seconds.

The runners both had a shower and a rest and around 12 noon it was time to leave to drive me back home.  I would have stayed longer but I had to get back to watch Newcastle United's last game of the season.  I had already missed the previous home game as I was in Edinburgh and I missed the game before that as I was in America.  So I didn't want to miss this one.

It was a fairly quick journey to my house and a very quick turnaround just to drop off my suitcase.  Then we drove to Newcastle where I was dropped off.  Becky, Mike and Astrid were going to stop off somewhere for lunch before heading back to Northallerton.

I got to the ground early and just sat there watching the stadium fill up and the atmosphere building.  Newcastle were playing Everton.. a team they should have been able to beat easily.  If Newcastle won then they would be sure of being in the Champions League next season.  If they got a draw or lost then things would depend on how the other teams below them in the table fared.

Newcastle put in a disappointing performance.  They did have chances but just couldn't get the ball in the net.  However Everton did.... and the final score was Newcastle 0 Everton 1.  So then there was a few nail biting and tense minutes wait before other results filtered through and we knew that we had managed to finish 5th in the table which meant Champions League football next season was in the bag. Hooray!

My blip shot shows my favourite player Fabian Schar just standing on his own after the match had ended waiting for Champions league confirmation.

As it was the last match of the season its a tradition for the team, manager etc plus wives, girlfriends and children to walk round the pitch at the end so I stayed behind to see them.

Got a bus home with no bother.  The cats were pleased to see me as I didn't have a chance to see them when I had popped in earlier.  Nicola the cat lady sent me lots of updates while I was away plus many photos of Tino... and even a couple of Lily taken from outside when she was on the windowsill in the front room.  Of course by the time Nicola came indoors Lily had disappeared.

After not feeling well yesterday today I have been fine... thank goodness.

Sorry for lack of comments - I'm hoping to catch up soon.
