Sweet Joe Pye....

.....such a great name and another one of my favourites herbs in the garden.

Seemingly this one was named after a North American Indian called Joe Pye, who cured a grateful New Englander of typhus. The Indian used this plant to induce profuse sweating, which broke the fever.

Oh and if you crush and boil the seed heads you are left with a wonderful pink-red dye.

Very challenging busy day in the office, no time for exploring to find a good capture!
