Aberfoyle cycle loop

Conscious that today was forecast to be the last of the dry, sunny spring days, at 7:00am this morning Mr hazelh and headed for the Trossachs for a 32-mile cycle ride.

We parked the car in Aberfoyle, then rode up gravelled forest tracks into the hills. Lochan a' Ghleannain (blipped) was the first loch that we passed. Later we rode alongside Loch Ard, Loch Chon, Loch Katrine (by which we joined a very quiet metalled single track road), and Loch Achray. We stopped for a picnic at one of the highest points with beautiful views over Loch Katrine. Not long afterwards, we bought ice creams at the Trossachs Pier.

It was a beautiful route in the best conditions. If only I hadn't developed cramp in my lower back around the time that we reached Loch Katrine, it would have been a perfect cycling day. Towards the end of the ride we had to keep stopping so that I could jog about and stretch to try and shake off the pain.

The journey home by car took longer than expected. This was because we hit a few roadworks along the way. It was a tight turnaround to be ready for the Cyrenians Singapore dinner with Liz and Tony at Café Saints, but we made it for 7pm, and all enjoyed a jolly time together there (again).

Exercise today: 32 mile bike ride; walking (10,202 steps).
