Satelitte Male Ruff

This is a satellite male ruff in full breeding plumage. 

There are three types of male ruff: some that have colourful fancy feathers and fight each other to get the chance to mate with a female, the satellites which take a more passive role, and a third type which look like females and are able to sneak into the lek undetected. 

Satelitte male ruffs help to attract females to the lek and occasionally get the chance to mate with a female.
