Abstractly May
SiL C and I walked the 100 metres to the churchyard to see if the peregrines were active - and just like yesterday when we walked back from Charlecote and had a look, there was a bird sat at the side of one of the tall pinnacles which sit atop the tower (extras). We later learnt that the pair have four youngsters, “three girls and a boy” (they’ve been ringed). This is the fourth year peregrines have nested here. Of course, sitting in the garden hearing the screaming calls of peregrines ( they also apparently fly over the garden, although not whilst I’m there) I am not at all envious.
C then drove us ( “us” by now including the two beagles for their morning walk) to the grounds of nearby Walton Hall. Beautiful grounds.
Then after lunch it was time for me to leave, heading into rural Herefordshire. I am staying at T and C’s lodge, from where I’ll be popping into the Hay festival and exploring some of the area. A bit of relaxation is also needed - I’m pretty tired when I arrive. I am greeted by a mayfly on the glass door of the lodge - with its reflection, I think it may have an abstract quality. Although that may be stretching things a bit. The glass also needs a good clean, I’ll see to that whilst I am here.
