Red tailed cuckoo bumblebee

Bombus rupestris is a cuckoo bumblebee. She lays her eggs in the nest of a Red-tailed Bumblebee, and the nest becomes devoted to raising her young.
It is a remarkable looking bee, about an inch long with almost black wings and red-orange tail. The wing colour is distinctive in cuckoo bees, always much darker than their hosts.
And another new rose bloom today, this is Emily Brontë. My new neighbour Emily was given one too, by a friend. We were wondering who would have the first bloom!
