The Port of Leith

Away from the madding crowd in Edinburgh this morning to the port of Leith to browse light weight tents suitable for cycle camping, in that great land of the outdoors, Tiso.

Yes, I know, I vowed I would never resort to living in a tent and sharing toilets and showers with a hundred other cyclists, but when there are no available hotel rooms in the small town in the French Massif Centrale where next year's Semaine is to be held, even His Lordship and I have had to rethink our options.

Any tent has to be light enough to be carried on a bike and yet be large enough to hold us and our luggage in comfort.

We have camped not so long ago but we gave our lovely big tent to son# 1 when we moved to the Dower House and have only kept the small one which is too heavy for transportation on 2 wheels.

It was only a fact finding visit today, and we returned empty handed and wallet full, on a bus where we were seemingly the only occupants speaking English.
It was like being on holiday in a foreign city.
