NT Stourhead

Ok, so it's the shot everyone takes, but the framing is impossible to ignore.

We drove down to National Trust Stourhead today, to walk around the gardens and the lakeside views of follies, grottos and temples to sungod Apollo and a Pantheon filled with gods and goddesses. The day was warm and sunny and perhaps the impending break in the unseasonably hot weather meant there were fewer people than in previous visits.

Because Sally Satnav knew about the closure of M4J17 we took the Bathampton toll road - £1.20 per vehicle per crossing and my there were so many vehicles crossing! Whoever has the right to that toll bridge is making a serious killing. And again on the way home, during which I noticed the plume of smoke from the live firing exercise fire on Salisbury Plain!

Happily we appear finally to be in for some rain, although I doubt it'll amount to much (cue stories of floods and landslides tomorrow). More pics on rosher.net in the next few days (I have a bit of a photo backlog). :-)
