Brisbane Heritage

Today, in sunny and mild weather, I wandered around the nearby suburbs of Highgate Hill and West End. These inner-city suburbs were developed from 1860. Many attractive original houses remain, now heritage-listed, showing characteristic Queensland features such as timber construction, iron roofs with gables and wide verandahs. My main photo is part of a small group of duplex houses in Sussex St called the Brighton Terraces. The extra shows a few more houses that caught my eye.
