Today should have been our beautiful niece Gemma’s 40th birthday.

She was taken from us in February, and it still seems unreal. The devastation, the speed, the unfairness. The whole family are going to gather together on Saturday to celebrate the wonderful person that she was.

I’ve been thinking about her a lot today, although she is never far from my thoughts. My shy almost 4 year old bridesmaid 36 years ago. How could we forget that. Who knew back then what a huge mark that little girl would make on all our lives, and how impossible that Gemma shaped hole would be to fill.

Thank you Gemma for being a part of my life. I’ve learnt from you how short and how precious life is, and how I am more than ever determined to make each and every day count. ❤️
