Rant 1.

Yesterday evening I overheard SIL telling S that she would send birthday greetings to my DIL.....because she wanted to remain neutral and not aggravate the situation.
That sounded like appeasement to me or cowardice or simply wanting to be liked by everyone.
She knows very well that this DIL has already dropped a nuclear bomb on me by teaching my grandchildren to hate me and prohibiting all contact with me. She held the power and she used it, regardless of mass destruction and fallout to all concerned.
Either my SIL doesn't understand or does but doesn't care.
Either way I am doubly upset and having difficulty finding peace of mind.
S asked her not to do it but the damage to me is already done.
I am not vindictive and refuse to react to this provocation.
When I have finished this rant  I will spend some time on meditation.
I will not call it mindfulness, because that is akin to a herbalist flogging aspirin, giving it a new name, and as a modern remedy for fever of vegetable origin, not actually telling you that it had been around for ages and its potential applications are much more complex.
Rant over. Feeling better already.

I'm going to watch the second half of last night's tennis match, Musetti's vs Zverev, already knowing that he won.
