Shots 3 Dartford 0

Well who would have thought it.

Relegated bottom of the league last season, and straight into administration, things looked decidedly bleak for the Shots, and it was only a last minute whip round amongst the fans that managed to raise the £80,000 that we needed for the consortium to buy the Club. We came out of administration on 1 August, and our manager, Andy Scott has had since then to try and find some players!

A creditable draw away at last seasons play-off contenders Grimsby was followed up tonight with a 3-0 win against Dartford. And what a game - arguably one of the best league performances we've put in since Gary Waddock left 5 years ago. We were fantastic. Full of running; full of energy; full of passion and full of desire. Our passing was crisp and the movement was good, and the team looked hungry for goals. This is Aaron Whickham scoring our third goal, watched by Craig Stanley and Brett Williams (who scored one himself earlier in the game)

Starting on -10 points is always going to be difficult, but Andy Scott's programme notes tonight were really inspirational, and sent a shiver down my spine (soft tw*t!)

We're back - and as the faithful sang - "We've got our football back".

Thanks Andy and thanks team. I'm really looking forward to the new season :-)
