Robin ( Erithacus rubecula )
Clickychick and I decided to make a dash to one of the suppliers we use for the Lodge. A bit of a preemptive strike knowing we are going to be away visiting the girls. As always we went in knowing we needed a couple of things. We came out having changed how we do some things and with quite a few other things.
After lunch at our favourite cafe we decided to visit Cumbria Wildlife Trust Smardale reserve. The reserve is on an old railway line so apart from the rise up from the car park and then down again to rail level is flat. We were really too early in the year but being in the area we thought we would "suss" it out. The reserve is one of only two English sites where the Scotch Argus butterfly is found. There is a good range of bird life. However I didn't get photos of any other than this ropey shot of a Robin.
