Common

We've seen many Common Blue butterflies on our dog walks the last couple of days.   They were less active this morning, it was cooler and we were earlier but a few were on the wing by the time we came back to the cars.   Here, on dry grassland there are lots of plants of Lotus corniculatus, Birds Foot Trefoil, which is the main food plant for their caterpillars.  They'll lay their eggs here.  There were lots of males in evidence yesterday but today this female posed nicely, soaking up the warmth as the sun broke through.

After the walk I stopped at Jamie's for brunch.   We also looked at the properties he's going to view on Tuesday down on the south coast.  Pottery next after dropping Meg home, too warm in the car for her to stop there currently.  It was a very tricky job clear glazing my latest clock case.   Not enough glaze to dip the piece in as it's quite large so I had to pour the glaze over.  Ugh, what a mess!   Not spilt glaze but uneven thickness, some places coated twice, others not at all.   It took over an hour to get it more presentable but I am not sure how it will come out.

This evening Jamie and I went down to the seafront pub, The Slipway, where a couple of folk I know were providing the live music.  Chris joined us and the three of us were part of a happy crowd for an hour or so.   Home for a quick meal before Jamie went to his to pack for his next trip.
