Meet Mona

My sister and BIL work tirelessly to have beautiful gardens. In Maryland, the tides bring salt water to kill everything. In WV, wildlife eats everything. “Mona” was created to deter the wildlife. We’ll see when we return in a few weeks how many varmints she scared away. The birds were definitely affected. She had to be returned to the basement so we could enjoy our song birds. She is back on the job now. Thanks for your concern about our stunned birds this week. My sister has put prisms and stained glass objects in the windows to alert the birds. Plus we keep the drapes pulled a lot. The birds still hit the windows occasionally. We got up early this morning. I was completely ready other than changing linens and scrubbing the bathroom. Hubby had a few items to put in the car. Our BIL finished packing the truck. Both men had to work in the rain. My sister put away dishes and gathered their snacks/drinks for the road. We left the farm before 8:00. They left about an hour later (they always turn off the water source before leaving). We encountered an accident between a pick up truck and tractor trailer that caused quite a delay. The small truck had rolled and left many pieces and parts on the highway. My sister and BIL caught up to us at the Maryland rest stop. I’d accidentally put her camera in my case when we were getting ready to leave. We exchanged them before heading back to the interstate. I stopped at a market along our route. They always have the best cabbage prices, $.30/lb less than at home. Our next stop was lunch. We had hoped to go to a “saloon” in Frostburg but folks were in line around the outside of the place. We found a nice Mexican restaurant. Hubby got very sleepy after lunch. Thankfully, he isn’t afraid to admit it so we napped at a rest stop. He’d been awake since 3:00 am - afraid he’d oversleep. It has rained off and on most of the way home and at times, fog was thick. We have about an hour left to go. We stopped for gas and I bought a rotisserie chicken. We just found out that when my sister had a colonoscopy last week, the surgeon snipped her colon. She has been in the hospital for four days with an infection. My DIL made dinner for our mother and BIL today. I will make them a chicken pot pie for tomorrow and my sister and children will provide additional meals later as needed. When you have a big family, there are always issues. Just thankful we have each other to help. My sister and I will take our mother out to distract her. I am sure she is worried. We must have called Momma the day before the procedure because all was well at that time. Wishing you a stress free week. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. Hopefully I will finish catching up with your journals in the next few days. “Every scarecrow has a secret ambition to terrorize.” - STANISLAW JERZY LEC
