Wedding Season - Ragusa Ibla Duomo

We moved on today. But not till 2:20 when we would be catching the train to Syracuse-Ortigia.

Another beautiful sunny day. The view from our huge terrace overlooking the gardens and down to the town and beyond is fabulous. It was a great place to spend our three nights here.

Breakfast over, we packed up our rucksacks and left them with Michel. Had a wander into the old town and as we passed the Duomo there was excited voices and saw all the wedding guests trooping g up the many steps to the Duomo. Not long after the car with the bride arrived. We watched her go in and then had a walk down to the park and a stroll round the gardens. Decided to have another coffee and yet another tiramisu (to share) at a lovely are overlooking g the entrance to the gardens and watched the world go by.

Walked back up the hill towards the B and B and the wedding party was just coming out. Goodness that was a long service….

This is the very young bride. She was beaming and so was the groom.

Headed back through the beautiful alleyways (and steep steps) to pick up our luggage and a taxi to the train station. Train Was on time and plenty seats to choose from. Half way through the Journey we came to a halt in a small town and an announcement came on to say a delay because of animals on the track. It was an hour later before we set off again. Was able to get off and stretch legs while waiting on setting off again.

Arrived at Syracuse station and walked the 15 mins to Ortigia (the old town connected to Syracuse by bridges). First impressions was it was quite stunning. Our apartment for the next three nights is in an old building and a lot darker than the room in the b and b but I suppose it’s necessary for the heat in the summer. It was lovely and like a home not a soulless holiday let. Got the washing machine on while we went out and explored. And also to get some food as was starving!

Enjoying our Sicilian adventure…
