The medicine man….
One of those days again.
This old cow calved yesterday afternoon, but when I went to feed them all this morning she was looking sick and wouldn’t get up. Her calf hadn’t sucked either. So came back in for some calcium solution as I think it is milk fever . This is a metabolic condition you sometimes get when they are newly calved. So ran a bottle under her skin with the flutter valve. Then back in to mix up some artificial colostrum and headed back out to the field . Managed to catch the calf and it scoffed the 2 litres no problem. Will leave them alone and see what happens.
