Clearing da War Memorial
A windy and dull morning, showers passing over. Brighter spells as the day went on, lovely sunny early evening.
A day working with Steve. We were on oil waste collections from eateries first, then cleaning around the Shetland Bus memorial in Scalloway, also the the Lerwick war memorial. Walkies with Sammy after work. Off to work in the shop this evening, then early to bed.
With VE Day approaching, the Shetland Bus Memorial and the LK War Memorial were both needing a general tidy and care. We've been busy cleaning the areas, and clearing out weeds from the cobbles. The War Memorial was unveiled on the 6th January 1924, then WWII memorial added after the 1945. Over one hundred years standing proud outside the town hall, it was a privilege to be asked to clean around it, just hope I've done a good enough job. The War Memorial, with the police station behind, Hillhead, Lerwick.
