On Some Days

Birthday . . . The Beatles

This morning we flew from Nelson in a little plane with Origin Air. The Co Pilot welcomes you aboard and then he joins the other pilot leaving the curtain open so we can see them moving controls and flying the plane. We flew east over the hills towards Blenheim and could see snow to the south.  There was cloud cover until Wellington and then we could see the white caps on the sea. The wind at the airport was only a little gusty and the landing was very smooth. I would certainly choose to fly with them again.
The rental car is a hybrid so a new experience for us.  The temperature is much colder than home and I had a beanie and scarf on.  The motel had put the heater on in our room which was kind of them.
As we drove here we passed all three ferries tied up at their wharfs so it is still rough in Cook Strait.
This evening we joined the other grandparents at Finns house. Today was his last day at City Kids and they had made a special event of his turning five. In the blip he is wearing a cloak which is a recent development and is from Maori culture to show respect to him and his learning journey.  They must have quickly printed the picture to put on his card.  In the extra he is showing us his scrap book from daycare and telling us who his friends are.
He is excited about his party tomorrow.  It was a lovely evening with a happy, talkative little boy who is ready for school. Well done his parents.
