Curtain Call

This afternoon, went to a production in Mourão's refurbished cineteatro of the life of Amália Rodrigues, told mainly through the songs she sang. She is Portugal's most famous fado singer, and the first woman to be buried along all the famous men in the Pantheon. The production was a mixture of excellent singers and sometimes very amateur acting, plus a lack of equipment, for example, the good tap dancer didn't have tap shoes. The girl in the long black dress, sixth from right, is from Mourão, and sang a special song at the end to say thank-you.

If you are interested, here is one of the songs, with English, and French translations - It Smells of Lisbon - with some photos of Lisbon, to remind you of that beautiful city. (Also, some snippets on my WhatsApp status.)

Gratefuls:
- good enough weather to finish all the washing and bring it in dry (looks like more rain on the way!!)
- Mike getting a lot more strimming done (deadline for clearing the growth has been extended until 31st May because of the rain, but there's a lot to do)
- shopping in Reguengos, and other preparations for our next visitors
