Bodnant Gardens
Wonderful! The size of these gardens is remarkable, around a mile long and planted with delightful rhododendrons, azaleas and some extremely well grown specimen trees throughout. The Dawn Redwoods we saw must have been planted soon after the species was discovered in the 1940s, they were enormous! I found some cones with seeds, so I have collected a few in the faint hope of growing some more seedlings!
There are many very fine Acers, and giant pine trees and cedars.
The azaleas are at their very best and of course the weather is still stupendous. The laburnum arch is not quite out, but you can’t have everything can you….
The ponds had so many tadpoles we really couldn’t believe our eyes! And there was even a dipper on the stream.
This must be one of Britain’s very best gardens, and Bonnie was also privileged to be admitted too. Dogs are now allowed on certain days each week.
This was surely the highly of our holiday.
