Birmingham: Edgbaston
Readier for action in large
Back blip
The Culture of Care 'National Learning Session' was held in the conference rooms at Edgbaston Stadium. There was a large terrace looking out over the field; I rather enjoyed watching the roller slowly trundling to and fro over the course of the day...
The event was fantastic, covering various aspects of "Trauma-informed care" from a number of experts. I spoke in the afternoon about digital technologies (inc. vision-based patient monitoring systems and body-worn cameras), and how to use NHS England's 'Principles for using digital technologies in mental health inpatient treatment and care' to ensure that digital technologies are only used when they're the most appropriate, effective, and least-restrictive option. "Just because we can, doesn't mean that we should".
This was the largest audience that I've ever spoken to (360+), and the topics and content were highly charged, which all made for quite an intense 24 hours in Birmingham!
