Hot...

It got so hot this morning, in the back garden, that our two young potted fig trees wilted; I haven't seen that happen before. They're a naturally dwarf form of 'Violette de Bordeaux' and should be able to thrive in patio pots. This is only their second year, however, and they're still small.  Unlike their 'Brown Turkey Fig' neighhour beside the patio, which is ... imposing. And it is setting some fruit at the moment, though whether we get to eat it will depend on how I get on with squirrel deterrence.
So my shot of the fading tulips is an attempt to capture the sensation of that blazing sunshine.
While faffing about with that, I also spotted - and heard - a small group of swifts overhead. Wonderful - the first ones I've seen this spring.
Later I picked Eben and Luca up from school, finding L with a big bandage around a knee that he'd grazed in a playground fall yesterday. His stammer is still quite noticeable, but still doesn't seem to be bothering him unduly.
Ruth was home early and we had time for a cuppa and a catch-up before I headed home for the first online Greek class of the term. To my huge relief, no one else in the class had done any Greek practice over Easter either. We were all hesitant and rusty today, but feeling ready to put some effort in again now.
