Lily the Pink

Today's the day ...................... for an old favourite

There are endless pictures of exquisite little flowering gems that I could show you today - because I have been working on the rockery - easily my most favourite place to spend time.

And I know that I seem to show you the one above on an annual basis but that's because I'm always so pleased to see it again after the winter and know that it has managed to survive.  There's more of it this year too - which means that it must be quite happy where it is.

It's quite a special one too.  It's not just your ordinary Lily of the Valley (which I love) - but a pink form of it - Convallaria majalis var. rosea.  It was a present a few years ago from Maurice, who called in with his wife, Sheila, on their way westwards for a few days holiday.  Maurice, of course, is a very knowledgeable horticulturalist and botanist, having spent his working life looking after large gardens, open to the public.  So you can see how something from his garden might be a bit special.

It's always a bit of a treat to come across it again .................
