Heat

It was the day for my air source heat pump (ASHP)'s annual service. Before it was installed, I saw it being terrifyingly hauled two storeys up a ladder but I've never actually seen it in its resting position on the flat bit of my roof. So, along with the service engineer, I clambered out of my neighbours' loft-conversion window to get onto their roof then mine (I don't have a loft conversion, and I foolishly gave away my long ladder). I'm pleased with where it is - there's lots of room for me to instal photo-voltaic panels when I've saved up enough.

I was also pleased to meet the two great big black chimney things which are (I think) the inlet and outlet for my ventilation system. And to discover why I've had so many roofslates piled up in my garden. 75 are currently on Freegle, 20 of which will be collected by someone who uses them for the roofs of the hedgehog houses that he builds then donates to hedgehog charities.

The question I've been saving up for the service engineer - how to programme the ASHP when I go away - turned out to be redundant. I have tried to do it many times recently but in front of him I did it with no problem. Obviously.

Extra: a perspective on my garden I've never seen before. But it doesn't look like that this evening. After the engineer had left I installed one large fruit and vegetable cage and two small cloches.
