Watching the watcher

A very stressful day at work that left me with a headache and I was relieved to log off and enjoy the warm sunshine.  At lunchtime I changed the stem on Mirabel the Green Bike to get the handlebars a bit higher again, so I test rode it with a trip to Lidl.  Some raspberries were purchased for to have with some yoghurt later – yum!  En route I saw this peacock butterfly who let me get close enough to photograph on the third attempt.

On the return run I stopped at the big pond for a while and watched a heron gliding slowly, quietly and hugely to its nest on the opposite bank. I listened to the birds and as well as the ubiquitous mallards, moorhens and herring gulls we had a chiffchaff, robin, blackbird, wood pigeon and according to the Merlin app, a blackcap as well.
