The Thames at low tide
Firstly thank you so much for your kind words and generous hearts on my 4500th blip yesterday. I won’t have time to reply to all the comments but I appreciate all of them very much.
Last night I was so tired at camera club I really struggled to stay awake. We had an excellent judge, when she started on club class (the beginner class) I quickly realised she had exacting standards and was quite picky about certain things, but she gave very good reasons for the points she made so I could not fault her for the (in some cases) harsh scores awarded. Thankfully I did very well, I needed that after the past week I have had, and also because in the previous competition I didn’t do well.
Luke is working very hard but went to see his dad when he finished work at 9pm. He phoned me last night to say that Gavin seemed much improved.
I had some chores to do at home and also walked Xena before I went up to London to visit Gavin. Luckily the weather is beautiful this week so I am enjoying my walk from the station to the hospital, I have river views on my route from from Vauxhall bridge to Chelsea bridge. The British love all sorts of weather statistics and apparently this is the warmest April since 2018 and the start of May will be the warmest on record.
Gavin seems much improved today, the surgeon sent me a WhatsApp this morning to say they think the infection indicated by the high temperatures is in his chest. However today he has not had a high temperature which is good news. He had also started eating - well, if a thin consommé and marmite in boiled water can be described as food. But it’s a good start. He has not eaten for 11 days now so I am sure he would have lost weight.
Today it’s another of those 101 ways to photograph the Battersea Power Station. I have always loved this building, so much so that one birthday Gavin gave me a painting of it which hangs on the landing at home. The photo I took here, is the location where the power station was photographed for the album cover of Animals by Pink Floyd - just no flying pink pig in my photo!
Tonight I have our camera club committee meeting - I was excused from attending but at the moment I like the distraction of being busy. I also have to get the AGM notices sent out so I have a fair bit of admin to do at this time of year
