Peonies
House group at Christine’s for an hour and a half this morning, and then at 11.30am we walked up the road to Terry and Clive’s for nibbles in their lovely garden to enjoy the sunshine, warmth and company. I will admit to being a little bit greedy - well, how can you choose between chocolate cake, carrot cake and lemon meringue cheesecake??? So I had a small piece of all three! I didn’t have any lunch.
I’ve now paid the deposit for the new awning and confirmed the fabric choice. I then spent the afternoon decanting half the contents of the main bedroom into other parts of the house, in readiness for the decorator coming on Thursday morning. I’ll do the rest tomorrow, as it will have to go in the kitchen which will be a huge annoyance. The whole place now looks like a storage unit - I can’t wait for the decorating and carpeting to be over and done with. I got hot with the effort of dragging furniture and boxes about, and went out into the garden to cool down. To my delight, the huge pink peonies are coming out in bloom. Each flower is the size of a cabbage! I must make the most of their frilly beauty, as they rarely last even a couple of weeks.
