Weird and Wonderful
Another South African bulb, another Babiana species, one I raised from seed but it's not true to the name on the label. Possibly this is Babiana tubiflora which it looks like and you can see that the petals are at the end of a long floral tube which arches out from the true stem. Like a number of Babiana the flower stem curves down towards the ground. A curious feature, maybe evolution to reduce the risk of being grazed?
Another quiet day mostly at home. A few jobs were done indoors and out but I took it gently. I am feeling a bit brighter after these quieter days which is nice. The dogs had a walk this morning and a run in the ball field (sheep free today) early evening and I had a lovely walk along the seafront with L, a friend of very many years, which ended with a delicious vegan chocolate ice cream :-)
Off on my travels again tomorrow.
