Drying Ground Oak

Tony went to York to take part in the City orienteering race today whilst I had a leisurely get up, put in a couple of washing loads and took a walk up to the Drying Ground to see what was happening up there.  I took the hoe and cut down a fair few bracken fronds which were reemerging.  This will be an ongoing job for some time!  I walked up to the top end of the ground which we will be leaving pretty much untouched to see how the small oak trees are faring and one of these is the subject of my blip.  The Spring weather has brought on bilberry, gorse, rowan and hazel.  I also spotted the  amelanchier which friend Trisha had kindly marked with a ribbon.  Having filled the bird feeder and bashed a few more bracken fronds, I returned home.

Looks sharper on black.
