Between fen and mountains

Arrival at the refuge

There were only two of us available to play tennis today but the weather was perfect for a hike so Marie Laure proposed that Mrs TT and I should accompany her on a climb to the Bonne-Aigue refuge at 1,741 metres. It was a stiff walk of14 kilometres with over 1,000 metres of ascent and it took us over seven hours. Nevertheless, it was a magnificent climb with views over the Pyrenean chain and to the village way down below. We had our picnic at the recently restored refuge before descending via another peak, the Pic du Cogollo. I just hope my legs are not too tired for the tennis tournament tomorrow but there is a chance it will be cancelled as the weather forecast is not good.
