An early walk through the Meadows with Abi and Pip. We headed for the coffee and liver muffin caravan, with the bonus of the blossom. I didn't wear my hat, and regretted it. That chilly breeze will just not go away! We sat in the wee caravan garden having our coffees, and the dogs shared the muffin. We had gone (relatively) early so that Abi could have a nice few hours to do some work for a deadline (she works from home).
I then went down to Leith to pick up my new little gate hinge thingie. I asked the ironmonger about the direction of the hinges, I would have thought that both would face upwards, to give maximum support to the heavy gate. Our top hinge had faced down, giving no support whatsoever, so eventually the whole bottom of the wooden post gave way under the weight. But the ironmonger explained that the top one should be facing down, to stop people lifting the gate off and pinching it!! That makes sense, especially, I suppose, when they were first installed in the brand new housing estate with their (relatively) posh front gardens.
Sadly, the bus I got home turned off before I wanted it to, and I had to jump off at the first stop and then trudge across the Links, with that chilly breeze still there, although I did have my hat this time.
JR had gone into town on a mission, and Archie was happily occupied with his big chewy (hide) bone. Once I distracted him, I was able to grab it and wrap it up and put it in the fridge for next time. It's a treat reserved for when he's left on his own.
