No Prizes For Guessing Where We Are Today!
... I think the famous Little Mermaid will be more than enough of a clue for you to know we are in Copenhagen, Denmark today.
We had a somewhat hectic tour billed as "Fairy Tale Castles and Countryside". We started off with -- of course! -- a visit with the Little Mermaid for a quick photo op, then back on the bus for an hour's drive along a very scenic coastal road to Kronborg Castle, also known as "Hamlet's Castle" in the town of Elsinore. Although very impressive, for some odd reason we were not taken inside, but were merely allowed to climb the ramparts and admire the cannons! (We have visited here before, so I know you can go inside ...)
Back on the bus for castle #2, which we were informed was our tour guide's most favourite castle in all of Denmark. Imagine our surprise when, after half an hour's drive to get there, we merely drove past! No stopping, no getting off to take photographs ...
And on finally to castle number 3, Frederiksborg Castle, where at last we were allowed a peek inside. Our guide told us to stay with her "and only stop when I stop!" -- so a gallop through three floors of Danish grandeur before being herded back aboard the bus for our return to the ship!
Odd ... but interesting!
