The Pilgrim and The Mayflower
When I arrived in Liverpool in 1985, The Pilgrim was one of the pubs that you used to hear mentioned in student circles, which, come to think of it, were the only ones I moved in.
I remember the name more than the place, although Bob says we went there a few times.
Anyway, forty years later on, he has now acquired the premises, and also converted the upstairs, at street level, in to a second pub, The Mayflower (that being the ship that took the Pilgrims from England to America in 1620).
Both venues opened - re-opened in the case of The Pilgrim - this week, and I went across on the train today to meet Bob and go and see them.
Unsurprisingly, given his track record, both pubs had been done up beautifully, and I'm pleased to report that we had a happy few hours road-testing them :-)
