You’re Being Too Loud

Dear O'H dear, Lovely Tea Jenny and The Youngest Mini Princess,

Lovely Shuvly is friends with someone The Prince was a school with, Al, and his wife, Lucy. They are on holiday in the UK and we had a last minute invitation to join them for dinner this evening.

To be honest, the night was a bit of a car crash! Al and Lucy made the misjudgment of starting drinking on the train up from London and were hammered by the time we met them.

Now, I am not one to be judgy about people being drunk. Everyone has had their turn at being the drunkest person at the party but Al is incapable of speaking at any volume other than SHOUTING. And I mean really shouting.

They had been asked to keep the volume down three times in the bar we met before going to the restaurant and the staff ended up offering us a private room ‘as there will be more space for everyone’. Not coincidentally, this had also happened on a train the previous day.

After Al discussing their sex life at a volume that could be heard in Glasgow, they proceeded to fall out (each accusing the other of being more drunk) and both left. Two courses into a six course taster menu! It ended up being a game with the waiting staff of ‘How many for this course?’ when they reappeared 15 minutes later.

All at top volume. My ears felt broken.

Thankfully Jenk and Sooj (who had joined us for a pre dinner drink) were still out and we went to join when we left the restaurant. Mercifully the warring couple and LS headed off and we had a very nice couple of hours with our actual friends before coming home and squiffily giving The Eldest Mini Princess and Terry a full run down of the night!
