An explosion of colours

The houses in Eyeries are incredibly colourful but go into the small and rather plain looking church and the stained glass is a wild explosion of colour and beauty. Each window is filled with this exuberant work by artist George Walsh. I've included some close ups in the extras because the details are wonderful and often very witty. One side of the church is filled with images depicting the landscape, the weather, and local customs such as farming and fishing; whilst the other side shows a evolution of time from prehistory to the Celtic period and up to today - in my main for example you can see the early  Christian beehive structures  but at the top is a satellite dish and lower down a plane. This is the artist who Finola is writing her book about - he really needs to be better known. He's now in his 80s but still working.

It's as if it's snowing here today - the blossom is falling and the willow is shedding and  I am sniffing and sneezing!  It's been sunny though and I've been staking stuff up in the polytunnel.
