A day in the life

Waterwheel

The commune (city council) has decided that this old watermill was worth saving, along with the restoration of the original wetlands of the area. The overall focus though, was to get the storks back in the landscape. Storks has ”always” been a part of this landscape but along with the farmers methods of drying out the wetlands to get more land for growing crops, the storks gradually vanished. Since the year 2000, many wetlands has been restored and now,the stork is again a part of the landscape down here in the south of sweden. Restoring the wetlands included restoring the stream, the dam and the pond, made it possible to also restore the whole mill and so far the wheel and the floodgates are renewed and the house itself is next in line. We didn’t see any storks but had the most beautiful walk through a stunning spring landscape.
