Avocet
Oh, dear, I'm feeling rather behindhand, though I suppose it's not that much later than I usually post. It's just that I decided rather at the last minute to have a quick escape, so you can see where I've been!
This avocet was trawling for food in the main reserve. I felt lucky it was near enough for this shot. I do wonder, though, whether it isn't hopelessly difficult living your life with that enormous protruberance stuck on your face - however useful for feeding! Still they are elegant birds.
Along with some brightness it's been windy and cold. When I got home I found several dustbins (not mine, thank goodness) swept off their wheels, re-distributing rubbish over the path. Oh, and the other news of today is that Bram is back from boarding school and is now lying with Hazel in a state of exhaustion. It will be fascinating to see his behavior over the next few days.
Have a happy evening xx
