An ordinary life....

Hens of Happiness...

Another busy day.

Carole was here this morning to give Lola an overdue trim.  She brought her mum Margaret with her who is now in her 80s and cared for by Carole.

I haven't seen Margaret in a couple of years and sadly this once vibrant, kind, humourous woman who made the best carrot cake I have ever tasted, has now been utterly lost to dementia.  Carole is completely devoted to looking after her mum and making sure her final years are as happy as they can be.  She also makes sure her mum looks as smart as she always did and Margaret was beaming when I complimented her on her lovely jumper and silk scarf.

Carole got started on trimming Lola and David and I did our best to engage Margaret in conversation which was a bit hit and miss but at times she beamed her lovely smile and there were little glimpses of the Margaret we knew.  Such a cruel condition.

D headed off to play golf and Carole finished trimming Lola and she, her mum and I enjoyed brunch together.

Carole and her mum left just after 12.30 and L my cleaning lady arrived a short time later.  I headed to the study and played with some watercolour paints and finally tidied my table from painting the acrylic seascape.

Once L left I looked out the Easter decs.  Wouldn't bother but Esme will be here on Easter Sunday so I like to make an effort for her.  I also ordered some new decs and they arrived this afternoon.  Tomorrow will be decs up day and Saturday will be food prep day.

Over the last couple of weeks I've been crocheting these little hens as Easter gifts.  Think I made twelve all together. These four and the final three that I finished this evening, will be on the dinner place settings for the women (and girls :-) coming for dinner on Sunday and also one for Alan.  I call them Hens of Happiness because they make me laugh and I had fun making them.
